ICD-10-CM: Obstetrical Diagnoses Coding explains the clinical details of common complications of pregnancy, abortion, delivery, and the puerperium.

  • Coding gestational vs pre-existing maternal conditions, as well as abortion versus fetal death coding
  • Maternal infections including systemic infection, intrauterine infection, obstetrical wound infections and wound disruptions
  • Determining normal pregnancy and normal delivery for purposes of coding
  • A thorough discussion of the best indexing options for locating appropriate diagnosis codes
  • Glossary of unique terminology used in the obstetrical setting
  • Appropriate for coders of physician office, outpatient, and inpatient services

ICD-10-PCS: Obstetrical Procedure Coding covers the steps necessary to fully code inpatient procedures during pregnancy, abortion, or delivery.  With examples from the Obstetrical and other sections of ICD-10-PCS, these include:

  • Deliveries, abortions, removing ectopic pregnancy, and in utero surgery on the fetus.
  • Associated procedures such as monitoring, cerclage, laceration repair, induction of labor, control of postpartum hemorrhage.
  • Additional topics include in vitro fertilization and artificial insemination.
  • A glossary of unique terminology used in the obstetrical setting.
