Artificial Intelligence and Medical Coding
Introduction to AI
Foundational discussion of this rapidly changing field. In addition to providing an environment scan of the industry, the course highlights the ethical issues with this innovation.
AI in the Workplace
Highlights how CHATGPT can assist with tasks such as writing difficult emails, creating proposals, or writing blogs. Lesson includes live demonstration of prompting and searching using Chap-GPT.
AI and Medical Coding
A closer look at the use of ChatGPT, an open source AI tool. While ChatGPT is not an AI-generated coding product, much can be learned from its capabilities. All three coding systems are explored with common coding examples. A Learning Unit is devoted to using AI to translating clinical documentation.
AI and Education
Delves into the use of this powerful tool for coding education including drafting curriculum and developing student projects such as statistics, clinical documentation and validation of coding. Numerous examples provide a launching point for AI projects that can be incorporated into the curriculum today. A bonus for educators is a demonstration using ChatGPT for developing quiz questions.
Bonus! Case Studies
Additional cases to practice validation of coding using ChatGPT as a tool. Case studies and exercises are provided for all coding systems: ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT.
