We see temporary pacemakers inserted during CABG’s with removal on the floor within a few days. Most of the time it seems they are inserted in case it is needed post op. Since they are leaving the operative suite with these inserted, should we be picking these up even though they are rarely actually used for pacing?
Thanks for your question. We have no guidance on this question but I have not been coding the insertion or removal of temporary pacing wires that are not actually used to perform pacing. I hope that helps.
