Assessments allow directors to quickly gauge preparation of medical coders & new hires
BEDFORD MASSACHUSETTS – February 17, 2014 – To help hospitals and clinics prepare for ICD-10, Libman Education has launched a line of assessments for gauging a medical coder’s readiness in anatomy and physiology, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS.
By using the assessments, medical coding directors can quickly and efficiently determine the strengths and weaknesses of their coders and new hires – and avoid the time-consuming process of creating and performing their own assessments.
“These assessments allow you to comprehensively test your medical coding department’s ICD-10 proficiency in minimal time,” said Susan Pepple, Vice President and COO of Libman Education, Inc. “This is all the more relevant since the ICD-10 deadline is almost here. Organizations have little time to test their coders’ ICD-10 readiness; they need to begin ICD-10 training while they still can. And so these assessments allow them to quickly determine the level of ICD-10 training that their coders need, so they can move on to actual preparation.”
Pepple added, “The assessments – which are affordably priced – are also helpful for assessing ICD-10 readiness after training, in case coders need to retake their course.”
Each assessment includes a number of questions covering vital subject areas. When completed, a report shows an overall score, as well as individual scores in each subject area. Supervisors are provided documentation for gauging student progress and fulfilling compliance requirements.
