“Instruction in correct application of ICD-10-CM codes”
BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – January 23, 2019 – Libman Education has released an online course on ICD-10-CM Guidelines, providing a comprehensive review and explanation of select guideline topics to improve understanding and accuracy in application. Titled ICD-10-CM: Selected Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, the course is authored by Barry Libman, a nationally recognized authority in medical coding.
“The ICD-10-CM Guidelines are the instructions which govern the application of ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes,” said Barry Libman, MS, RHIA, CDIP, CCS. “By taking this course students can greatly increase their knowledge of diagnosis coding and their ability to code the same accurately and completely. You can’t accurately apply the codes if you don’t know the rules.”
ICD-10-CM: Selected Guidelines for Coding and Reporting provides detailed instruction on application of conventions and general guidelines as well as chapter-specific guidelines in those areas most challenging to coders, auditors, Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists and others involved in accurate and complete code assignment. The course features a review of the guidelines with commentary explaining their application, examples from both the Alphabetic Index and Tabular List, practice examples demonstrating application of the guidelines, and assessments following each lesson to ensure content is being mastered.
The “ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting” published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), is a set of rules developed to accompany and complement the official conventions and instructions provided within ICD-10-CM.
