Libman Education Partners with Cengage Learning to Provide Medical Coding Foundational Skills
Courses equip coders with the knowledge needed for a successful medical record coding career
BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – March 15, 2019 – Libman Education has partnered with Cengage Learning to provide medical coders with the knowledge needed for a successful medical record coding career. The courses provide foundational knowledge in four key areas: anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.
“In-depth and detailed knowledge in these four foundational areas is essential to a coder’s ability to read and understand what is written in the record,” said Angela Gerbert, BS, CDIP, CCS, CIC, CPC-I, Director of Education for Libman Education. “Only then is a coder able to translate the medical information accurately and completely into the appropriate codes. Without thorough knowledge in these areas, it would be difficult to build your career.”
Angela added, “The beginner coder who invests time and energy in mastering this foundational knowledge will be a better coder. The seasoned coder, especially anyone returning to the workforce or taking on a new area of coding, will benefit from periodic reviews.”
Courses include Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Medical Terminology, Introduction to Pharmacology, and Introduction to Pathophysiology. These courses are also offered in the Medical Coding Foundational Skills package.
