Libman Education Announces Adoption of the Merck Manual as an Online Resource to Supplement Training

Two of the Most Trusted Names in Reliable Medical Information Link Resources

BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTSAugust 6, 2020 – Libman Education announces an agreement with Merck & Co. to provide detailed reference material from the Merck Manual Professional Version for inclusion in Libman Education online training courses. The comprehensive reference materials started to appear in Libman Education courses in July 2020 as courses were updated for the FY2021 code sets.

“Understanding diagnoses and procedures in detail is key to a learner’s ability to accurately and completely apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes to medical records. By incorporating Merck Manual content into our courses, we are able to provide detailed and reliable medical information at the learner’s finger-tips to supplement online learning of complex coding topics,” said Susan Pepple, President of Libman Education.

Up-to-date and peer-reviewed content from Merck Manual Professional Version will be embedded as a hyperlinked knowledgebase customized and configured to work within the Libman Education on-line coding courses. Students will be encouraged to drill-down within courses to expand their knowledge of medical conditions, disease processes, clinical indicators, laboratory values, procedures and exams thus ensuring their coding decisions are based on sound knowledge and in-depth understanding.

“We are pleased to work with Libman Education and provide our proprietary Merck Manuals content as a key educational and referential resource for the users of their courses,” according to Michael Wisniewski, Strategic Partnership Manager for Merck Manuals. “Merck is committed to making the best current medical information accessible to health professionals; Merck Manuals are one of the most widely used medical information resources in the world.”

The inclusion of the Merck Manual Professional Version within Libman Education online training courses is consistent with the Merck Manual mandate to “protect, preserve and share the best current medical information to enable more informed decisions, enhance relationships between patients and professionals and improve health care outcomes around the world.”

About The Merck Manuals
First published in 1899 as a small reference book for physicians and pharmacists, The Merck Manual grew in size and scope to become one of the world’s most widely used comprehensive medical resources for professionals and consumers. As The Manual evolved, it continually expanded the reach and depth of its offerings to reflect the mission of providing the best medical information to a wide cross-section of users, including medical professionals and students, veterinarians and veterinary students, and consumers. In 2015, The Manuals kicked off Global Medical Knowledge 2020, a program to make the best current medical information accessible by up to three billion professionals and patients around the world by 2020.
