AHIMA announced that the CCA, CCS, and CCS-P certification exams will continue to test on the 2019 code sets until June 14, 2020 instead of updating to the 2020 code sets as originally planned for May 1, 2020.
CCS and CCS-P 2020 Beta testing will also be postponed to a later date to be determined. The original date for the start of 2020 Beta testing was May 1, 2020.
These changes are due to the impact of COVID-19 on Pearson VUE’s ability to provide test delivery. While some testing sites have closed others that remain open are respecting social distancing protocol. According to the Pearson VUE website: “The status of our global test delivery is changing rapidly due to the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions about test center operations in accordance with government and local authorities.”
Candidates will receive notification from Pearson VUE if their exam is canceled. You can also log in to your Pearson VUE account to check the status of your upcoming exam appointment. If you are still able to see your upcoming exam appointment, expect your exam to go ahead as planned, but with additional health and safety measures in place.
What should you do if your test is canceled?
If your exam date has been canceled, you can reschedule your exam date on the Pearson VUE website. AHIMA suggests scheduling after May 1, 2020.
What if you wish to reschedule or cancel your exam?
If you are currently registered to sit for an exam, AHIMA recommends that you do not cancel but reschedule your exam appointment. If you choose to cancel, you will need to follow AHIMA’s cancellation process. You can reschedule your exam date on the Pearson VUE website. AHIMA suggests scheduling after May 1, 2020.
What if you need to extend your eligibility period?
If you need to extend your eligibility period beyond May 1, 2020, please contact [email protected]. AHIMA indicates they will only grant extensions based on the closing of test sites and scheduling.
If you have not yet registered to sit for an exam, AHIMA suggests you schedule an exam date after May 15, 2020. Please keep in mind when scheduling: the exams are testing on the 2019 code sets until June 14, 2020. The date for launch of the exams testing on the 2020 code sets has not been determined.
